Family Counseling Program

Family Counseling Aids in Recovery

Family involvement in substance abuse therapy, together with family education, results in better treatment outcomes. Our parallel family counseling program begins on the same day as the patient’s treatment. Introduction to both family and individual treatment programs are presented to each group simultaneously.

Our family counseling program helps families and loved ones navigate the fear, anger, exhaustion, and stress that coincide with substance abuse. To heal the family unit as well as the individuals involved, we believe that these emotional states deserve attention and therapy, too. Our Family and Friends program includes group and conjoint (client with loved one) sessions along with educational seminars and support.

Mixing Closed Group Therapy with Family and Friends therapy increases the likelihood of a successful recovery. This recent shift towards including the family in treatment of drug and alcohol abuse is encouraging. Both the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services now recommend family therapy be incorporated into substance abuse treatment plans.
