Women’s Groups
Colonial Clinic offers an exclusive women’s group to help women of all ages navigate, process, and heal from a variety of issues that challenge women today. Our women’s support group is an open group that usually consists of six to eight (but no more than twelve) women. This close-knit structure provides a safe place to be vulnerable, grow friendships, develop support systems, and heal. Because of the support and comfort women receive, many women choose to continue the program beyond the recommended period.
How long does each women’s support group typically last?
Our women’s groups loosely follow a six-month timeline and meet once a week for two hours. Each group is led by an experienced counselor and, because of their therapy-based format, is much deeper and more personal than other groups (such as AA). Women in these groups also have access to a professional mental health counselor once per month in addition to individual counseling to address personal concerns and challenges.
What does a typical group session look like?
During each session, the counselor checks in with the group. Time is spent learning various coping exercises, gaining new tools to put into practice outside of the group, and discussing a variety of relevant topics. Within each women’s support group, a wide range of significant and pertinent issues are addressed including:
-
Social stigmas towards women
-
Past trauma (PTSD)
-
Anxiety
-
Depression
-
Bipolar disorder
-
Self-esteem
-
Establishing healthy boundaries
-
And more
You can join the women’s group at any time, so you don’t have to worry about having to wait for months before you can get the help you need. Contact us today at (509) 327-9831 to learn about available openings and to get more information about our women’s treatment group.
